Not just a stone. Fishermen along the Amburayan river use this for fishing. Seeing one like this in the river bank means that a fish trap (called "barekbek" in Ilocano) has been placed about 2-3 meters away right in the river. They get the traps in place late in the afternoon before sunset, left there overnight doing its job of catching enough fish (often with more shrimps) by a bait inside and be checked just before the sun rises the next morning, bringing home a fresh catch cooked for breakfast. The stones purposely done like this guides them to the right places of the many traps they've installed the day before. Labels: Amburayan river, fish, random |
